A post-mortem examination has revealed that Betty Wanjiru Nyaga, a 28-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher from Mwea East, in Kirinyaga County died from severe trauma caused by consistent injuries.
According to the pathologist’s findings, Nyaga sustained significant soft tissue injuries which led to complications, including kidney failure, ultimately causing her death.
The Post-mortem follows after the teacher’s body was discovered last Wednesday in a thicket in Mugumo-ini village, near the Nyamindi River, in a case that has since sparked concern among residents and the education community.
The exercise was conducted at Kibugi Funeral Home in the presence of family members and representatives from the education sector.
Kirinyaga County Police Commander Mohammed Jire has confirmed that detectives from Wang’uru Police Station are actively pursuing leads to locate and apprehend the suspect, whose identity has been noted.

The death of the young teacher sparked reactions with teachers threatening to boycott teaching until the suspect is arrested and justice served.
Authorities have however appealed to members of the public to remain calm and allow due process, following an incident where a house believed to be linked to the person of interest was set on fire.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has also called on the public to share any information that may assist in the ongoing investigations.
Nyaga is survived by a young child, with burial arrangements set to take place at her family home in Mugumo-ini village.
