Makueni County to proceed with 44 projects to KSEF regionals, eyes glory

Makueni County will be proceeding to Kenya Science Engineering Fair (KSEF) regional level at Matuu Memorial Girls High School, taking a total of 44 projects; 27 from senior school and 17 from junior schools.

This is according to the KSEF Eastern Region Organizing Secretary and Makueni County KSEF Secretary Peter Mwinzi, who added that the just concluded 62nd edition KSEF competitions held at Kalulini Boys’ High School saw junior schools participating for the first time.

“We also recorded highest attendance of schools since KSEF started. That shows our learners and teachers are embracing science which we cannot do without,” Mwinzi said

He added that last year, Makueni County secured position two and led in entries to nationals, however this year, they are aiming at position one.

“This year we are aiming at position one which is very much achievable considering the teams we have. I wish our participants all the best,” Mwinzi said.

On Tuesday next week, a total of 27 senior schools from the county will be proceeding to regionals with Makueni Boys topping the list with 15 projects. Precious blood Kilungu is following with 12 items, while Kisau girls secured 6 items as Kalulini boys(the host) proceeds with 4 projects followed by St. Mary’s Kinyambu boys  with 4 projects.

Schools proceeding with three projects are ABC Iuani, Mwaani Girls and Makindu Boys while Ngunini, Mwaani Boys and Kisayani Boys each has two projects.

Schools with one project each are; St. Mary’s ACK Ukia girls, Kambi Mawe boys, Usalama Senior School,  Mukaa boys, Kathonzweni boys, Nduumoni Senior School, Malaa Senior School, Ngoto boys, Ngungi Senior School, Utangwa Girls, Ititi, Kilili, Mikuyuni, Salama, Masokani, Mukaa Girls.

Apparently, Mwinzi noted that 17 junior schools will be proceeding to regionals led by Kathonzweni AIC with 6 projects followed by Kari Mwailu with 3 projects. Additionally Malivani AIC, ACK Wote, Vitale HGM and kwa Kilomo, Kiteei, Matiliku, Lia Itune, Masumba, Mumbuni, Miangeni International, Ngongweni, Kwambeu, Nguumo, Kitoto and Thomeandu all heading to regionals.

Senior schools projects proceeding to regionals per sub county are 25 projects from Makueni,Kibwezi and Kilungu will take 12 projects each, Mbooni East will take 9  while Makindu proceeds with 4 as Mukaa and Nzaui proceed with 2 each.Mbooni West will have 2 as Kathonzweni and Kambu proceeds with one each.

Junior schools projects proceeding to regionals per sub county are 9 from Kathonzweni, 5 from Makindu, 3 from Nzaui, 2 from Makueni and Kilungu then Kambu, Mukaa and Mbooni East are taking 1 each while Kibwezi and Mbooni west will have none.
