Kathonzweni AIC junior school in Makueni County has performed well at the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair, proceeding with six items to the regionals.
Speaking to Education News, John Kimanthi, the KSEF Kathonzweni sub county Junior School Secretary congratulated the school and learners for posting impressive results and placing the sub-county at position one.
He urged teachers to encourage more learners in junior schools to participate in science fair adding that science opens up learners’ mind through intensive research, placing them at the centre as problem solvers.
He added that he will be leading the sub county to the regionals which will be held at Matuu Memorial Girls’ High school from March 17th to 21st.

“We have one of the best learners. Being the first time the junior schools participated in the competitions, I will be taking a total of 9 projects from the sub county,” Kimanthi said
However, he called for the support of the projects fully in future adding that giving students such platforms is one of the best an institution can offer.
Kathonzweni Sub County emerged the best sub county in the just concluded county Kenya Science and engineering fair held at Kalulini comprehensive school. It emerged 1st out of the 10 sub counties.
Other schools proceeding to the regions from the sub county are; Kiteei, Vitale HGM and kwa Kilomo. Other junior schools across the county are Kari Mwailu, Malivani AIC, ACK Wote, Matiliku, Lia Itune, Masumba, Mumbuni, Miangeni International, Ngongweni, Kwambeu, Nguumo, Kitoto and Thomeandu adding that most outstanding projects was mathematics in many schools.
