Thousands of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) applicants have been urged to remain patient after heavy traffic on the college’s online admissions portal disrupted access to admission letters for the March 2026 intake, even as the institution issued a stern warning against fraudsters seeking to exploit the chaos for financial gain.

In a notice on Tuesday, March 10, KMTC confirmed that admission letters for both pre-service and in-service candidates had been officially released the previous day, March 9. However, the simultaneous rush by a large number of applicants overwhelmed the system, temporarily locking out many users from downloading their documents.

“The admission letters for both Pre-Service and In-Service applicants were officially released yesterday, March 9, 2026. However, due to high portal traffic, some applicants may currently experience difficulties accessing or downloading their letters,” the college said.

KMTC appealed to affected applicants to avoid repeatedly attempting to log in at the same time and instead try accessing the portal later when fewer users are online. The college assured successful candidates that their places remain secure despite the technical disruptions.

The college used the same notice to sound the alarm over an emerging fraud threat targeting applicants frustrated by the access difficulties. KMTC warned that con artists were already circulating false claims on social media, including on WhatsApp, purporting to help applicants obtain their admission letters for a fee.

“Applicants are strongly cautioned to beware of fraudsters who may take advantage of this situation by claiming they can help you access or secure admission letters for a fee. Please note that all admission letters are issued strictly through the KMTC admissions portal, and no payment is required to access them,” the institution stated.

The warning came barely 24 hours after KMTC had already raised the red flag over a separate but related scam. On Monday, March 9, the same day admission letters were released, the college flagged a fake document circulating on social media that falsely portrayed official KMTC admission details. Fraudsters were reportedly using the forged material alongside unofficial WhatsApp numbers to solicit money from unsuspecting applicants.

KMTC made clear that it does not process admissions through WhatsApp, Gmail, or any other unofficial channel, and that no individual or group outside its official systems is authorised to facilitate placements.

For candidates yet to apply, KMTC confirmed that the application window for the March 2026 intake remains open until Friday, March 13, 2026. Prospective students are required to log into the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) student portal to submit their applications before the deadline closes.

The college, which operates 98 campuses across the country and is Kenya’s largest trainer of middle-level health professionals, said applicants encountering difficulties with the process can visit any of its campuses where staff are available to offer assistance.

KMTC urged the public to rely solely on its official website and verified communication channels for authentic updates regarding the admissions process, warning that information shared through unofficial platforms should be treated with suspicion.
