Rugby excitement is building up ahead of the 2026 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Kakamega County Rugby 15s boys’ championship, scheduled to take place from Monday, March 9 to Wednesday, March 11 at Musingu High School.
The three-day tournament will bring together top secondary school teams from across the county as they battle for supremacy and a chance to qualify for the Western Region Secondary School Games.
According to the official draw, the competition has been divided into four pools featuring some of the county’s traditional rugby powerhouses as well as emerging sides eager to make their mark.
Pool A features Mautuma Secondary School, Chebuyusi High School, Koyonzo Secondary School, and Mukumu Boys High School. The group is expected to produce closely contested matches as each team pushes for a place in the knockout stage.

Hosts Musingu High School headline Pool B alongside St. Peter’s Boys, Khwisero Mixed Secondary School, and Shamberere Secondary School. Playing on home soil, Musingu will be looking to capitalize on familiar territory as they aim to dominate their group and progress further in the competition.
In Pool C, Malava Boys High School will take on Shikunga High School, Lubinu Boys High School, and Butere Boys High School in what promises to be a competitive pool with teams eager to prove their strength.
Pool D comprises Kakamega School, Kilimani Secondary School, and Kivaywa High School. Despite having three teams, the pool is expected to deliver intense clashes as the sides battle for the limited qualification spots.
The championship will serve as a crucial stage for teams to showcase their talent and tactical discipline, with the top performers earning the honour of representing Kakamega County at the regional level.
