Mombasa County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Climate Change Emily Achieng Okello has welcomed the arrival of the MV Odyssey cruise ship, which docked at the modern cruise terminal along berth number one with more than 600 students on board.
Speaking during a media briefing at the port, Emily said the county government is pleased to host the vessel, which will remain in the coastal city for six days.
“We have designated areas the students are expected to tour during their stay at the coastal city,” she said.
She noted that the learners will have an opportunity to experience Mombasa’s rich Swahili heritage and cultural traditions during their visit.

The CECM emphasised that the port city prides itself on its history and cultural identity, which it is always eager to showcase to international visitors.
Emily expressed optimism that the students’ stay would increase their perspectives and deepen their understanding of both Mombasa and the country as a whole.
She added that the visit is not only significant for the port city but also beneficial to the country at large, as it strengthens cultural exchange and tourism ties.
