Three-time Bomet County handball champions Siwot Secondary School have once again underlined their dominance after qualifying for the semi-finals of the Longisa sub-zonal secondary school games, which kicked off today at the Longisa grounds in Bomet East Sub-County.

Siwot booked their place in the last four following an impressive run in the preliminary stages and will face hosts Longisa Mixed Secondary School in a highly anticipated semi-final clash scheduled for tomorrow.

In the other semi-final tie, Longisa will battle Kapsimbiri Secondary School for a place in the sub-zonal final.

Speaking ahead of the decisive encounter, Siwot Secondary School head coach Zephania Mibei expressed confidence in his squad’s preparedness and form, noting that the team is determined to defend their county title and go a step further this season.

“Our preparations have been thorough, and the boys are motivated,” said Mibei.

He added, “Recently, we participated in a competitive tournament in Kericho where we finished second. That exposure has greatly boosted our confidence and sharpened our tactics.”

The seasoned coach added that the team has set its sights beyond the zonal stage, aiming to qualify for the national championships.

Siwot reached the quarter-finals of the Rift Valley secondary schools games last year, and Mibei believes the experience gained will be crucial in pushing the team further this time round.

“We learned a lot from last year’s Rift Valley games. Our goal now is to qualify for nationals and make a strong statement,” he said.

All eyes will be on Siwot as they seek to maintain their winning tradition and keep their national dream alive.
