Reagan Otieno wins presidency in competitive Kitale School pupils’ election

Kitale Primary School has ushered in a new student leadership team following a peaceful and well‑organized election in the school

Reagan Otieno emerged as the Students’ President after securing 761 votes, narrowly defeating Meloty Nayanchama who garnered 737. His victory underscored the confidence and trust placed in him by the student body.

In the Governor’s race, Alex Lutjer won with 542 votes against Adrian Mwai’s 463. The Senatorial contest was equally competitive, with Clara Kachapin topping the race with 399 votes, followed by Shaniz Zawadi with 361 and Immaculate Ochende with 290.

Natalia Jepkoech was elected Speaker of the Students’ Assembly after clinching 632 votes, beating Zoe Valeria who received 485. In the executive portfolios, Vicky Juma secured the Education docket with 876 votes, defeating Christian Olukaka who managed 597.

The Health and Sanitation ministry recorded the highest tally of the day, with Alvin Kibet winning decisively at 933 votes against Joshan Mutari’s 257. Gift Kariuki took the Peace, Justice and Cohesion seat with 500 votes, ahead of Sasha Neema’s 296.

Care Cheptock won the Environment docket with 726 votes, defeating Wayne Foro who had 394. Samuel Baraka was elected Facilities and Maintenance Minister with 390 votes, while Stacy Cherono polled 308.

In Games and Sports, Racheal Rehema triumphed with 398 votes against Joy Jeptoo’s 266. The Special Needs docket went to Farhan Kiprotich with 287 votes, followed by Stacy Nanjala with 172.

Headteacher George Polo lauded the pupils for conducting themselves with respect and responsibility throughout the exercise. “I am proud of our learners for maintaining discipline and democratic values, which reflects the strong culture we continue to instill at Kitale School Primary,” he said.
