The Kenya Union of Post Primary education Teachers (KUPPET) Kisii branch elections is getting hotter and elusive as aspirants now turn to horse-trading to survive being cut off from the major seats.
Internal sources revealed that members had agreed earlier to retain the incumbent Executive Secretary, Joseph Abincha and his team against his only rival and team Abel Kinyanjui.
A teacher who spoke on condition of anonymity alleged that Abel Kinyanjui met with his opponent Joseph Abincha and agreed to step down on condition that the latter drops the Chairman Laban Ouko from his team and replace him with Dennis Aming’a who is seeking the seat of chairman.
The sources say that Ouko had sensed danger of losing and shifted his loyalty to Abel Kinyanjui who had sealed a deal with Abincha but now had rekindled his spirit of remaining in the race until the last minute.

Its is also reported that Abincha’s team has started to exude confidence of clinching the seat and retaining it on the scheduled date of February 16th at Itirio High School in Bonchari Constituency.
But some insider information filtered out that Abincha’s camp was rocked by some divisions and there were fears of his fate during election time.
Efforts to reach Abincha and Laban Ouko to give their comments were not successful but one of their supporters, who identified himself as Kevin Oyaro, downplayed the split narrative and said that Abincha’s team was intact and assured their supporters of a landslide win during the upcoming polls.
