Police in Bungoma County are investigating a shocking incident in which a 16-year-old student at Bunangeni Secondary School lost his life during a school sports activity. The tragedy occurred on Friday, January 30, 2026, when a javelin thrown by another student struck the boy in the head.
The injured teenager was rushed to hospital but succumbed while undergoing treatment. His body was later moved to the mortuary as detectives launched investigations and prepared for an autopsy to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
Elsewhere, at Oljororok Primary School, in Nyandarua county, a Grade Two pupilwho had gone missing has been found dead. The minor had earlier left school at around 4:20 p.m. in the company of another child from the neighbourhood. When her companion branched off to her home, the girl continued alone but never arrived as expected.

Her mother raised the alarm, prompting a search that involved her father, a bodaboda rider, and neighbours. The search led to the discovery of the child’s school bag beside a road, and moments later her body was found concealed in a thicket about 100 metres away.
Police reported that the minor’s hands had been tied behind her back and her face covered with a marvin head dress. Blood was seen oozing from her nose, though no visible injuries were noted. The body was taken to J.M. Kariuki Hospital Mortuary for preservation as investigators seek to establish the cause of death.
