Nyomboi re-elected executive secretary as KUPPET Baringo ushers in new leaders

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Baringo Branch has ushered in a new leadership team following peaceful elections that saw Zachariah Nyomboi successfully defend his seat as Executive Secretary.

Speaking after the announcement of results, Nyomboi cautioned politicians against interfering in union affairs, stressing that teachers’ elections must remain independent and free from external influence. He did not name specific individuals but underscored the need to safeguard the autonomy of the union.

The elections produced a fresh lineup of officials to steer the branch for the next term. Johanna Chebon was elected Chairman, while Hillary Biwott took the Vice Chairman’s position. Japhan Kirui was chosen as Assistant Executive Secretary, with Fanuel Kipsoi elected Treasurer and Faith Kebut as Assistant Treasurer.

In the gender representation docket, Gladys Yatich secured the Gender Secretary role, while Kolele Fred was elected as Third Gender Secretary. Ken Adomeyon will serve as Secretary for Secondary Schools, and Nicholas Keror was elected Junior Secondary Secretary.

The polls concluded without incident, with members expressing confidence that the new leadership will strengthen the union’s operations and advance teachers’ welfare across Baringo. Nyomboi congratulated his colleagues and urged them to embrace unity, accountability, and service delivery as they take up their mandates.
