The Deputy Inspector-General of the Administration Police Service (DIG-APS), Gilbert Masengeli, on Tuesday visited Hulugho Township in Garissa County to console the family of the slain Boma Location chief, the late Abdifatah Ghani, and reassure residents of enhanced security following two brutal killings in the area.
Masengeli represented the Inspector-General of the National Police Service (IG-NPS), Douglas Kanja, during the visit, which came a day after the shocking murder of Chief Ghani and Hulugho Primary School teacher Peter Musili.
The two were killed in separate but closely timed incidents early Monday morning, plunging the township into grief and fear.
While addressing residents, Masengeli delivered a message from the Inspector-General, expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families and the wider Hulugho community.

He assured locals that multi-agency security teams had been deployed and were working round the clock to track down and arrest those responsible for the killings.
“This is a painful and senseless act that has robbed this community of a dedicated administrator and a young, committed teacher,” the message read.
“We want to assure residents that security agencies will not relent until the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.”
Masengeli noted that such an incident was unprecedented in Hulugho Township and called on residents to work closely with security agencies by sharing credible intelligence to help restore calm and prevent future attacks.
During his visit, the DIG also met teachers and pupils at Hulugho Primary School, where he conveyed his condolences over the killing of Musili.
He urged teachers to remain resilient as the government moves to strengthen security in the region.
The DIG later visited the home of the slain chief and met his widow, Ms. Aftina Shalle Wabi, conveying condolences on behalf of the National Police Service and the government.
Chief Ghani was laid to rest on Monday in accordance with Islamic rites.
