Police in Nyamira County have arrested a 55-year old man who has been cohabiting with a Grade seven girl since December 2025.
According to the girl’s mother, her 13 years old daughter disappeared from home in the middle of December last year when she did not return home after a weekend’s walk.
The mother said that she reported the matter to the police after she looked for her daughter at different places including their relatives homes but in vain.
Acting on tips from the public, the police who have been investigating the matter, arrested the suspect, who allegedly lured the school into the hideout where they stayed as husband and wife.

“I received a call from the police informing me to go their station to identify the girl.” said the mother who identified herself Joyce Moraa.
She identified the girl and accompanied the police to take her to hospital for pregnancy testing and any other sexually transmitted disease as the man retained at Keroka Police station to help the police with further investigation.
Hospital report indicated that girl was pregnant and she was recommended to visit prenatal clinic for her personal health and that of the foetus.
Residents reacting to the matter, decried high rate school drop outs among young girls and crime. They asked the police to intensify security by ensuring that suspects are arrested and arraigned in the court of law.
