The National Treasury has issued a final notice requiring all government pensioners and their dependents to complete mandatory online registration by February 28, 2026, warning that failure to comply will result in an immediate suspension of monthly pension payments.

The directive, issued under the ongoing Public Service Pension Administration Reforms, affects retired civil servants across all sectors, including former teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), retired state officers, uniformed officers, and beneficiaries of deceased pensioners.

According to the Treasury, the re-registration exercise is aimed at updating pension records, eliminating inconsistencies, and strengthening accountability in the management of public pension funds.

For the education sector, the move directly affects thousands of retired teachers, many of whom rely on pension payments as their primary source of income.

To complete the process, pensioners are required to upload scanned PDF copies, each not exceeding 2MB of key documents, including a national identity card (front and back), bank or SACCO card showing the account name and number, KRA PIN certificate, and a personal or pension number. Where applicable, birth certificates for child beneficiaries or death certificates for principal pensioners must also be provided.

Registration can be completed online through the Pensioner Self-Registration Portal or via the eCitizen platform under National Treasury services.

Pensioners who are unable to access digital services may seek assisted registration at Huduma Centres or the Treasury Pensions Department offices.

The Treasury has urged all affected pensioners to complete the process early to avoid delays ahead of the deadline.
