Nyamira’s Amagura Sec parents asks MoE to convert institution into boarding after impressive results

The Amagura Secondary School parents have asked the Ministry of Education to convert the Nyamira based institution into a boarding school to enable students to have enough time to concentrate in their studies and achieve better results.

The parents who talked to Education New education said that the school has enough modern classrooms that can be converted into hostels for the ambitious learners.

Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusah Momanyi supported the parents request and expressed need to elevate the mixed secondary school into a boarding school.

She narrated how the school was jubilantly opened by the first lady Margaret Kenyatta in 2018 and since then the school has been on the upward ward academic trend.

The Woman Representative asked the Principal and his school management Committee to consult on the possibility of converting the empty form two classrooms which remained vacant as the Competency Based Curriculum is ushered in while phasing out the old system of education.

She said that the current Competency Based Curriculum needs adequate preparations including good boarding facilities to enable learners to accomplish their studies smoothly.

The school’s Director of Studies Cyrus Omondi said that the rural school recorded a mean score 7.5 to enable the school to send 37 students to University as the rest qualified to join middle level colleges and Technical vocational Education Training institutes.
