A total of 270,715 candidates out of the 993,226 who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams have scored C+ and above securing the minimum University entry grade.
Speaking during the release of the exams at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret on Friday Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba said in the 2025 KCSE, 1,932 candidates scored grade A, representing an increase from 1,693 in the 2024 KCSE.
Out of the 1,932; 1,332 are male candidates, while the female accounted for 600 candidates.
According to the CS, the number of candidates who secured varsity entry increased as compared to 246,391 in 2024 KCSE Exam.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council, (KNEC) statistics, more girls 501,214 sat for the 2025 KCSE exams compared to male who were 492,012.
However the Ministry has also reported that a total 1,180 candidates engaged in exam malpractices, an increase compared to 614 candidates in 2024.
In the report, national schools produced more students with mean score of A, accumulating to 1,526, followed by extra country schools that had 197 As, private schools had 185 As, county schools had 6As and sub county 18.
Sub county schools stood out, with more students with C+ and above, totalling to 34,960.
