Khwisero Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Aseka has announced that teachers and Bishops are fully involved in cases of defilement and teen pregnancies, which have become rampant in the constituency.

This is after 31 girls were found pregnant in secondary schools and primary schools between last year and this year.

Aseka was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the 340-bed capacity hostels at Khwisero Technical and Vocational College.

“Teen pregnancies are a major challenge; teachers and Bishops are highly reported on defilement cases leading to an increase in pregnancies,” Aseka disclosed.

MP stated that his office carried out a survey to come up with investigations to know precisely the leading cause of defilement and teen pregnancies.

Additionally, in some cases, it was revealed that youth also participate while aged women engage in love affairs with school boys, and all people have become culprits.

He urged parents to be vigilant and to take responsibility for caring for their children: “Caring for children is not a government responsibility alone; parents have to take part.” The MP decried

His office follows up on the culprit, and if found guilty, a DNA test is conducted to arrest the suspect.

To beef up security in Khwisero, Aseka noted that a child below 18 years found loitering at night will be arrested.
