Deputy Chief of Staff, Delivery and Government Efficiency, Eliud Owalo, is scheduled to visit Bomet University College tomorrow for a projection verification exercise, with a focus on the near-complete Library Block under development by the State Department for Higher Education.

The project, which involves the completion of a modern, multi-storey library block, is currently at 96 percent completion. The works are being undertaken by Supreme Fortitude Limited, the contractor tasked with finalising the institution’s flagship academic facility.

Once completed, the Library Block is expected to significantly boost the institution’s learning and research capacity, which continues to record steady growth in student numbers.

The facility will house modern study spaces, digital research infrastructure, academic resources and reading areas designed to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding university community.

According to project officials, progress had been slowed in previous months due to inadequate funding, which contributed to delays in final finishing works.

However, ongoing government support and renewed focus on accelerating completion have positioned the project on track for handover.

Owalo’s visit comes at a critical moment, as President William Ruto is expected to award Bomet University College its full charter, elevating it from a constituent college of Moi University to an independent public university.

The completion of key infrastructure, including the Library Block, is considered essential in meeting accreditation and quality assurance requirements ahead of the anticipated transition.

The inspection is part of the government’s broader performance delivery framework, which prioritises the timely completion of stalled or slow-moving national projects.

Owalo is expected to assess progress, meet project teams, and outline any remaining steps required to operationalise the facility.

The Bomet University College management has welcomed the visit, saying the new library will transform academic services and enhance the institution’s readiness for charter status.
