Musingu High School has opened its annual sports trials with an overwhelming turnout, drawing 1,356 aspiring athletes for the week-long selection exercise that commenced on November 30 and runs through December 5.

The trials, which form a core part of the school’s talent identification programme, have already seen coaches flagging promising prospects who may qualify for full sports scholarships. The institution, long regarded as a breeding ground for elite athletes, is using the trials to reinforce its teams ahead of upcoming regional and national competitions.

Musingu’s sporting pedigree remains strong. The school has made notable appearances at the National and East African championships, three consecutive years in hockey and two in soccer cementing its reputation as one of the region’s most consistent performers.

School Chief Principal  Benard Lukuya say the high turnout signals growing confidence in Musingu’s structured development pathway. By expanding its scouting efforts, the institution aims to sustain its competitive edge and build squads capable of matching, and surpassing, its recent regional successes.

The selection process continues this week, with final lists expected to define the next generation of Musingu High’s sporting talent.
