Management University of Africa (MUA) has entered into a training partnership with India’s best information technology institute to address the prevalent gap in Information Technology skills in the country.
Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT) will offer provides real-world experience by allowing the trainees to get their hands directly on whatever they are learning thus creating a sense of empowerment.
This model of training has helped India be a force to reckon with in technology, globally.
Speaking during launch of the partnership at the university’s grounds in January, MUA Vice-Chancellor Dr Nicholas Letting, said the collaboration will be a game changer in the Information Technology sector because all courses offered will target skills enhancement among the youths and also help those already in the IT sector upgrade their skills.
IIHT, a premier Information Technology hardware and networking training institute in India with over 200 global centers, inked the deal with the university to offer hands-on training on-campus, the kind that has put India on the global technology fast lane.
“Skills can only be entrenched through hands-on training with the actual equipment used in the relevant industry. This will continue to enable graduates to get into the job market without the necessity of internships or industrial attachments,’’ IIHT Nairobi Centre Mission Head, Dr Emma Theuri said.
Currently, with a centre in Westlands, Nairobi, IIHT will initially offer job-oriented IT Certificate and Diploma Courses on the latest technologies based on a curriculum developed with employers’ requirements in mind, which will consequently increase employability as the courses will be relevant to available jobs in the market.
