A teacher from Chebanyiny Primary School, Chepalungu Sub-county in Bomet County, has been selected for national recognition during this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebrations.
Daniel Mutai has been named one of the Distinguished Awardees for 2025 by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
According to an official letter dated September 29, 2025, Mutai is being honoured for his exemplary work, commitment, and outstanding contribution to the teaching profession.
The award is part of the TSC’s efforts to celebrate and acknowledge teachers who have made significant impacts in the education sector.
The national World Teachers’ Day celebrations will be held on Sunday, 5 October 2025, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Indoor Arena, Nairobi.
The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. and will bring together education stakeholders from across the country.
This year’s theme is “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession,” emphasising the importance of teamwork and partnership in delivering quality education.

World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5 to recognise the vital role teachers play in shaping the lives of learners and contributing to national development.

The TSC, in collaboration with key stakeholders in education, organises the annual event to honour teachers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism.
Mutai’s recognition is seen as a source of pride for Chebanyiny Primary School and the larger Bomet County education community.
He is expected to represent the county at the national stage alongside other selected educators from across the country.
