DORCAS CHEPATEI LOYATUM: Astute KUPPET West Pokot Vice Treasurer with teachers at heart

As the drums of change and calls for better leadership in the teaching fraternity gain momentum in the hilly and shrubby land of Pokot, Dorcas Chapatei Loyatum stands shoulder high and eyes sharp ready to defend her position as the West Pokot KUPPET Vice Treasurer to agitate for the teachers’ welfare and wellbeing.

Born in Chepareria ward, Kipkomo Sub -County in West Pokot County, ASAL region Loyatum  fully understands the terrain and the hardships teachers in the region undergoes, placing her at the better place to push for their agenda at the national level.

During the last KUPPET West Pokot branch general election, she overwhelmingly won the seat after strategically outlining critical areas affecting the teachers either directly or indirectly.

Following her vast experience in leadership, she addressed key areas mostly affecting the teachers and immediate remedies.

Chapatei Loyatum through her distinctive leadership has had her achievements which include improvement on BBF kitty that is now benefiting the spouse, children, biological parents the teacher,

On teacher motivation, Dorcas championed allocation of funds for teachers participating in Sports, Workshops and KNEC trainings where refreshments are also provided.

“At all times it is my wish to ensure that the great Kuppet members of West Pokot County are physically and psychologically comfortable when attending to the learners,” Dorcas said.

Through her accountability, the Kuppet Branch in West Pokot County was well furnished with modern furniture providing comfort to members whenever they visit the branch office.

In addition, she has overseen the implementation of promotions as per sub County the idea which she strongly advocated for in her manifesto.

The aspirant has been of great help at the branch matters as she has been representing the office during sports, retooling and bereaved families.

With the call for JSS autonomy, Dorcas maintains that delinking is vital for the betterment of the teacher and the success of CBE curriculum.

With the election around the corner Dorcas has placed her hope and trust on teachers, asking them to support her candidature so that she can continue with the good work she has been doing. Her manifesto includes, Accountability on Union funds for the benefit of the teacher.

She is calling for the improvement of funds towards teacher activities like knec trainings and Co-curricular activities, BBF funds to assist the bereaved families.

Loyatum boast of vast education history and career. Her early education starter at Ywalateke primary school in Chepareria ward,Kipkomo Sub -County in West Pokot County before transferring to Ortum Girls Boarding Primary School in Pokot Central Sub County.

Being among the top students in KCPE examinations, she joined Chwele Girls High School in Bungoma Western. Later she joined the famous Moi University in Eldoret.

Currently she is a team player teacher at Gracerock Girls Secondary School teaching Kiswahili and Geography.

Dorcas Cheptum Siwatum the courageous, transparent, eloquent, focused, social and visionary leader who was overwhelmingly voted in during the last General election, is again wooing teachers to support her for the seat.

“Fellow teachers, in solidarity Kuppet will prosper, let’s continue working and pulling together as professional colleagues,” Dorcas said
