Kilgoris Member of Parliament, MP Julius Sunkuli has pledged to upgrade all public schools in his constituency as part of a wider plan to improve access to quality education.
Speaking during a tour of Oldonyorok and Angata primary schools, the MP said funds have already been set aside for the renovation of infrastructure in several learning institutions.
“This is part of my long-term commitment to uplift the education standards in Kilgoris,” said Sunkuli. “We have already begun the process, and more schools will follow.”
He emphasized the importance of community involvement in realizing the education development agenda, noting that the success of such projects depends on the cooperation of all stakeholders.
“Improving our schools is not the responsibility of the MP alone. It is a collective effort. I appeal to all residents to support this cause,” he urged.
Sunkuli pointed out that decent classrooms not only provide a conducive learning environment but also motivate students to attend school, which he believes will translate into better academic performance.
“When learners are proud of their schools, they are more likely to attend consistently and perform better,” he added.

However, the MP cautioned residents against placing all their hopes on the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), urging them to also seek support from other elected leaders and development partners.
“The CDF has its limits. We must be proactive and engage other leaders—MCAs, the county government, and even private donors—to complement our efforts,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the MP’s initiative, saying the plan will address persistent challenges such as absenteeism and poor learning environments.
“This move is timely. Our children have suffered due to poor infrastructure. If schools are improved, more learners will stay in class,” said Mary Ntaai, a parent from Angata.
Another resident, Daniel ole Risa, added, “We appreciate the MP’s efforts. This will go a long way in boosting education in this region.”
The renovations are expected to begin in the coming weeks, with priority given to the most dilapidated schools.
