Labour Cabinet Secretary and Maendeleo Chap Chap Party Leader Dr Alfred Mutua has promised jobs in Russia to youths in Mumbuni North Ward if they elect the party candidate, Harrison Wambua Mutuku, in the forthcoming by-election.

Mutua, who was speaking at Kisooni grounds during the unveiling of the candidate, said he was concerned about the state of joblessness among youths and will work with local leaders to enlist youths for jobs in Russia.

“You know that I am in the Ministry of Labour with the duty of securing employment for our people. I have seen some women here whose children I helped to get jobs in Russia.

Elect Wambua so that we can work together to secure jobs for our youths in Russia,” Dr Mutua said.

He said that some senior bachelors were unable to marry due to a lack of jobs and the financial means to support a family.

He assured that the MCCP candidate will not drop out of the race in favour of anyone and that he was in it to win.

Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule, who was elected on the MCCP ticket, said the party was homegrown and asked the people to elect Wambua so that they could work together to deliver development to the people.

Mr Wambua said he was familiar with the needs of the people and had already begun working on addressing some of the problems.

“I am in a competition against time because we have only two years remaining until the next general election.

I have started planning on how we will implement development projects in our area,” said Wambua, who attended college at the Railways Training Institute and now runs a Generator Spare Parts Company.

The Mumbuni North Ward seat, which fell vacant following the death of former MCA Gedion Kavuu, has attracted five other contestants.
