MoE to convene high level meeting with TSC field officers next week

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has invited all Regional Directors under the Ministry and their equivalent at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for a three days meeting in Mombasa next week.

The meeting will which will start from September 22, 2025 to September 24, 2025 will primary scrutinize the preparations of schools for the roll out of Senior Schools in January 2026.

The event which will be attended by a high powered delegation drawn from Jogoo House and TSC headquarters, will also discuss the question of suspected ghost students in secondary schools, which has caused wastage in capitation funds.

Recently, Basic Education PS Prof. Julius Bitok said that 50,000 students could not be accounted for in the provided data by schools, a matter that has raised eyebrows within the public.

Those expected to attend include Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba, Prof. Bitok, the various directors heading different dockets at the Ministry as well as senior officials at the TSC led by the acting CEO Evaleen Mitei who will be accompanied by various heads of directorates at the Commission.

Informed sources have told Education News that the meeting convened by the MoE will also look at issues such as the policy on school capitation, staffing gaps in Junior and Senior Schools, Quality Assurance and Standards in schools among other .
