Cheboingong Primary and Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Bomet County has set its sights on next year’s county volleyball championship after a spirited showing this year.

The school, which impressed at the Bomet Central Sub-county games, says the experience at this year’s county final in Sotik has fueled a renewed determination to excel.

According to school head teacher Rodrick Chepkwony, the school is using the lessons learned from this year’s campaign to build even stronger teams for the future.

“We came very close this year and the experience at the county games has only sharpened our resolve. Our goal now is to go a step further and lift the county championship next year,” said Chepkwony.

Cheboingong has been steadily building a reputation as a sporting powerhouse, thanks to consistent investment in training, facilities and mentorship for young players.

He said that teachers and coaches have been working hand-in-hand to ensure that pupils in both primary and JSS levels develop not only their sporting skills but also values such as discipline, teamwork and resilience.

Chepkwony credited the entire school community from the coaches and teachers to parents and learners for the strides made so far.

The school head noted that sports at Cheboingong are viewed not just as a path to trophies but also as a platform for nurturing talent, shaping character and opening up future opportunities for learners.

He further explained that the school is already putting in place preparations for the 2026 season, including holiday training sessions, enhanced fitness programs and regular friendly matches with other leading schools to boost competitiveness.

“Our boys and girls have trained tirelessly, and this is the reward of their hard work. We believe this years’ experience is just the beginning of greater things to come,” he said.

As the school looks ahead, optimism is high among players, staff and parents that Cheboingong can translate its local dominance into county-level glory.

With fresh talent coming in from lower classes and experienced players gaining maturity, the school hopes to cement its place among Bomet’s volleyball giants and inspire other institutions to embrace sports development as a key pillar of education.
