St. Anthony Padua Secondary School in Pokot South is celebrating a historic milestone after receiving a brand-new school bus, a generous donation facilitated through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The commissioning of the bus was presided over by the area Member of Parliament, Hon. David Losiakou Pkosing, in a colourful ceremony that brought together students, teachers, parents, education stakeholders, and local leaders.

Speaking during the launch, Hon. Pkosing emphasised the importance of investing in education as a way of empowering future generations. He assured the community that his office would continue prioritising education by channelling resources into infrastructure, bursaries, and facilities that directly benefit learners. “When we empower schools, we empower our children, and when we empower our children, we secure the future of this constituency,” he remarked to loud applause.

For years, St. Anthony Padua had struggled with transportation challenges, especially during co-curricular activities, academic tours, and regional competitions. Students were often forced to hire vehicles at high costs or miss out on valuable opportunities altogether. With the arrival of the bus, the school is poised to conserve resources, enhance mobility, and increase participation in academic and sporting events beyond the borders of Pokot South.

The school’s principal expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Pkosing and the CDF committee, noting that the donation had not only solved a long-standing problem but also boosted the morale of both learners and teachers. Parents echoed the sentiment, describing the gesture as a life-changing intervention that will make the school more competitive and attractive to new students.

Students could hardly hide their excitement, singing songs of praise as they proudly inspected their new bus. Many promised to work harder in their studies and co-curricular engagements to honour the support extended to them. “We no longer have to worry about missing competitions or long treks. This bus is a blessing to us all,” one student shared.

The gesture contributes to the growing list of CDF-funded projects in the education sector across Pokot South, ranging from classroom construction to bursary allocations that have enabled vulnerable learners to remain in school. By providing the bus, the leadership has reinforced the message that education remains at the heart of community development and progress.

Indeed, for St. Anthony Padua Secondary School, this is more than just a bus—it is a symbol of hope, pride, and opportunity. This vehicle will carry not just students but also the dreams of an entire community toward a brighter future.
