Kilifi North MP Owen Baya has pledged to allocate Sh100 million from the Constituency Development Fund to upgrade three secondary schools in Kilifi town.
The legislator said the amount is aimed at catering for the increasing number of pupils sitting the Kenya Primary School Education (KCPE).
Addressing a consultative meeting for residents at Karisa Maitha Stadium he also said that he has allocated Sh10 million for construction of boarding and administration facilities at the St Thomas Girls High School in the area.
He said: “Strategic plan is to use the CDF monies to construct two mixed day secondary schools at Kilifi and Kibaoni primary schools and a boys only secondary school at Kiwandani primary School
The MP said there were many children in the area staying at home after performing well in KCPE who fail to continue to secondary because of lack of enough institutions. The legislator said that he was fully behind the National Government’s programme dubbed “Operation Rudi Shule” to have all students report to school without failure.
