FEASSSA Semi-Final between St. Joseph’s Boys and Musingu High abandoned after pitch invasion

The highly anticipated FEASSSA semi-final between St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale and Musingu High School, nicknamed the Scorpions, was abandoned at Bukhungu Stadium on today after fans invaded the pitch following a late equalizer by Musingu.

The match, which had been tense and competitive from the outset, ended prematurely as security officials struggled to restore order.

St. Joseph’s Boys had taken the lead in the first half through a well-taken penalty, holding the advantage for the majority of the game.

However, Musingu High staged a dramatic comeback in the closing minutes of regulation time, scoring an equalizer that leveled the score at 1-1.

The late goal appeared to ignite the Musingu fans with joy among sections of the crowd, who rushed onto the field, disrupting the game and placing players and officials at risk.

Police, stadium security and officials moved swiftly to intervene, creating a corridor to escort the St. Joseph’s Boys team to safety amid fears of attacks from agitated fans.

Officials and referees were forced to halt the game completely, as the situation on the pitch and in the stands became increasingly volatile.

At the time of going to press, FEASSSA officials had not yet released a verdict on the match, leaving both schools, players, and fans awaiting clarification on whether the semi-final will be replayed, awarded, or decided in another manner.

The incident underscores growing concerns about crowd control and fan behavior at school sports events, highlighting the need for stricter measures to ensure the safety of players and officials.

Both St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale and Musingu High School are among the top-performing teams in the region, and the abandoned semi-final was expected to be a thrilling contest with a place in the final at stake.

Organizers are now under pressure to provide a clear timeline and resolution so that the tournament can proceed smoothly, while also addressing security lapses to prevent similar incidents in future games.

This dramatic turn of events has left many stakeholders calling for enhanced coordination between school sports organizers, local authorities, and security personnel to protect the integrity of competitions and the safety of everyone involved
