Malava Boys High School Principal Dr. Aliva Livasu is set to take over the reins at Kakamega School as principal today Tuesday bringing to an end tough leadership tussles which has been seen in past few weeks.

Dr. Aliva, a chief principal takes over from Dr. Julius Mambili who has exited the service upon retirement at the close of last term.

According to the schedule of transition prepared by the Teachers Service Commission, (TSC) Dr. Aliva has to hand over to Moyi Tuesday morning and drive straight to Kakamega school to take over his new station in the afternoon.

Controversy has stoked the Kakamega school transition lately with local politicians pulling in different directions about the person to head the premier national school in Western.

There have been media reports that that school’s powerful alumni association was opposed to the new head and that the post had been reviewed.

Kakamega county director of TSC Wilson Koros however denied such changes saying he only has Dr. Aliva’s letter of appointment.

TSC last week moved swiftly to a leadership crisis at the school by posting two deputies following the promotion and transfer of deputy principals David Sikulu to Sidokho mixed school in Navalholo Sub County and Wycliffe Nabdwa to Matete.

Chief Principal Dr. Julius Mambili proceeded on terminal leave on July 31st with no one left behind to midwife the transition as both his deputies are on an exit mode after being promoted to principal status.

Dr. Mambili has been in charge for the past two and half years and his imminent exit had attracted intense lobbying from among his peers.
