The Members of Parliament, (MPs) in the Sports and Culture Committee, led by Matungulu MP Stephen Mule, flagged off and hail riders from Starehe Boys Centre who are undertaking a fundraising journey from Busia County to Mombasa.
During an impromptu stopover in Voi town, the riders received financial aid from Members of Parliament to support their noble mission of raising funds for the school’s kitty dedicated to bright but needy students.
While flagging off the team, Mule commended the initiative, noting that the Committee fully supports the riders’ bold decision to cover more than 900 kilometres in pursuit of a worthy cause.
“In life, people die and are forgotten, but for the founder of Starehe Boys Centre, his legacy stands tall and alive,” Busia County MP, Catherine Omanyo said.

Robert Basil (Yatta) said the riders were courageous enough to take the challenge of raising funds through the bicycle ride and they deserve accolade.
“Sterehe Boys Centre has touched many lives…my family is part of beneficiaries of education scholarship from the institution,” said Janet Sitienei.
Area MP Abdi Chome said he was privileged to host the riders and colleagues for the noble exercise.
“The flagging off exercise by MPs would enhance awareness on the event the riders are undertaking to support needy children access education. On behalf of Voi electorate we are privileged to host the riders and guests,” he added.
The same sentiments were shared by Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi) who called on Kenyans to support the funds drive by the riders.
