Barely three months after making a promising pledge, President William Ruto has fulfilled his Ksh. 20 million commitment to two Bomet schools, bringing relief and joy to the institutions.
Prof Julius Bitok, Basic Education PS, officially delivered the funds. The pledge was made following a request by Chepalungu MP Victor Koech, popularly known as Mandazi, in mid-April during the burial of the late John Koech, a long-serving MP.

Speaking during the handover, MP Koech lauded the president for honouring the pledge, noting that the two institutions have shaped the futures of countless people in the region.
Each school received Ksh. 10 million, a timely intervention amid the current financial constraints affecting many schools.
In addition to the Ksh. 20 million, Prof. Bitok also committed Ksh. 1 million to the neighbouring Segemik Secondary School to support learning activities.
“I also advocated for support towards Kiriba Integrated Secondary School — a school the late Ambassador Koech held close to his heart,” Koech added. “Prof. Bitok recognised the significance of Kiriba and kindly promised to follow up on its development.”
The move is a significant boost to education in Chepalungu constituency, and this is expected to alleviate the burden on parents.
