Ong’icha secondary school will now represent the Kisii County at the regional games after thrashing the titans Sameta high school in a tensed replay match which ended 1:0 on penalty.
Earlier, during the inter-secondary schools Term Two competitions held at Nyachogochogo Secondary School in Nyamache Sub county, Sameta beat Ong’icha 1: 0 in spite of fielding only 10 players with the eleventh one being disqualified because his name was found missing in the official Nemis portal under the Ministry of Education.
It was on those grounds that Ong’icha’s appeal against Sameta’s was accepted and Ong’icha was subsequently declared the Kisii County soccer winners.
However, Sameta consequently appealed against the ruling and were given a chance for a replay of the match at Kisii stadium on Sunday.

The game that was played under police watch without any fans, saw the two teams going into a draw at : 2: 2 by the end of the official playing time.
The KSSA jury allowed the teams to play penalty kicks where Sameta lost at 0:a1 to Ong’icha.
According to Kisii County KSSA Secretary, Geoffrey Nyantika, Ong’icha will now represent Kisii County in the Regional Soccer tournament to be held in Kisumu County next week.
Sameta Soccer team is the latest victim of disqualification of players in Nyanza after Kobala and Onjiko from Kisumu, Matutu PAG from Nyamira and many others.

According to Kisumu Sub county Director of Education Rose Birenge, most of the disqualifications came as a result of teams fielding none students to play or not meeting the KSSA soccer regulations.
These ban of teams from playing for various reasons has led to KUPPET raising concerns on the credibility of the Region’s KSSA sports bench.
Kisumu branch Executive Secretary Zablon Awange asked the committee to resign over incompetence to pave way for able ones to steer the region into the desirable sports standards.
