The Meru County TSC Director, Juliet Kariuki has said that acute understaffing of teachers in the area is the greatest challenge the commission is currently facing with the secondary schools being the hardest hit.
“Our major challenge is that some areas have acute understaffing of teachers and especially in secondary schools. The commission is trying to address the issue so that pupils who transit from primary school to secondary level will find enough teaching staff once they report”, said Kariuki.
She cautioned teachers against borrowing or purchasing schemes of work and lesson notes from colleagues or buying commercial examinations from other schools and advised them to plan their own work in advance before going to the class by writing their own schemes of work, lesson plan and notes.
