SHOFCO International NGO has launched a programme of taking teen mothers in Kakamega County back to school and issuing scholarships to progress with their education
Addressing SHOFCO Urban Network (SUN) Staff, and leaders including MCAs drawn from all parts of the Country in Kakamega town the global CEO Ken Odede emphasized on awareness campaign to ensure all teen mothers are back in school
During the event the CEO presided over Kakamega branch elections urging elected leaders to ensure that teen mothers seek scholarships transparently, on time without tribalism and discrimination.
Odede also made an announcement to launch a Sacco in Kakamega to expedite in issuing scholarships to teen mothers which would eventually eradicate poverty in the county.

“As a community let’s unite and support teen mothers from needy backgrounds and stop tribalism that has hindered economic development,” Emphasised the CEO.
Odede also pointed out that SHOFCO was formed mainly to eradicate poverty through educational support among teen mothers taking them back to school.
The CEO who grew up in Kibra Constituency as a street boy faced more challenges added that SHOFCO has really supported to improve the area.
“Let’s support our teen mothers and make them relevant in the society.” He noted

Kibra MCA Lawrence Odhiambo decried that perpetrators who impregnate girls run away and remain in dire need to get support. “Let girls know that it’s not the end of the world and life can still go on.” Kibra MCA affirmed
The MCA lauded SHOFCO founder and CEO for coming up with the initiative to train them giving incentives to start up a life and be independent in the society.
He urged elected leaders to utilize the SHOFCO resources in connecting the communities warning them against tribalism instead be committed to service delivery.
SHOFCO apart from providing quality education, it also offers free medical care, community empowerment programmes and clean water in the slums of Nairobi.
