Kisii Governor visits yesterday’s accident victims including teacher in hospital, waives bills

Kisii County Governor Simba Arati today visited 20 victims of the Kisii National Polytechnic- Daraja Moja road accident, among them a primary school male teacher.

The accident that involved two matatu vehicles killed two people instantly and injured several others, who were admitted to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

The hospital’s CEO, Dr Oimeke Marita, said the victims were responding well to treatment, assuring their families that they were out of danger.

“The majority of them suffer from bone fractures and facial deformations, but our officers are working hard to save their lives,” he said.

Governor Arati wished the patients a quick recovery and to go home to reunite with their loved ones.

“It is bad to experience such sudden dangers on our roads. I wish you the compassion of God to heal you and join your families soon,” he said.

The Governor promised that the county government will waive the medical bills for the casualties in full because the government is committed to the well-being of its people.

Kisii Central police Traffic Commander Collins Omondi said he had directed his officers to impound any roadworthy vehicles and arrest their drivers, conductors, and touts to face the law in court.
