Lugari Boys Alumni demands rematch after controversial school football match

A petition has been filed demanding a rematch following a disputed football match between St. Paul’s Lugari Boys High School and Munyuki Mixed Secondary School, held on May 31 during the Term II KSSSA games at Lugari TTC Grounds.

In a formal letter addressed to the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) leadership at both the sub-county and county levels, the Lugari Boys Alumni Association has backed the school’s appeal, citing alleged irregularities that, according to them, compromised the integrity of the game.

The petition describes the match as “marred by circumstances that compromised fair play,” calling for a transparent investigation, a rematch under neutral conditions, and clear communication of the findings to restore confidence in the KSSSA system.

“Our boys deserve justice,” said Dickens Luvanda, Interim Chair of the Alumni Association. “This is about protecting the integrity of school sports and ensuring all student-athletes are given a fair and equal chance.”

The petition, dated June 3, has also been copied to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the Ministry of Education, and Lugari MP Nabwera Daraja Nabii, signaling the seriousness of the concerns raised.

Community members and school stakeholders have expressed frustration over the outcome of the match, with many calling for greater accountability and improved officiating standards at local school sports events.
