The political landscape in Malava Constituency is taking shape following the death of area MP Malulu Injendi. Two prominent high school principals are emerging as potential contenders in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.
Enock Andanje, Chief Principal of Bungoma High School, has frequently appeared at public functions across the constituency. Locals say Andanje has been using these platforms to share his development vision — a move widely interpreted as laying the groundwork for a political campaign.

Meanwhile, Simon Kagwana, Principal of Kivaywa High School, has been quietly building momentum. He has reportedly been meeting clan elders and opinion leaders at various social gatherings, signalling a serious interest in the seat.
Despite the growing speculation, both principals have remained tight-lipped. When contacted for comments, none of them picked up our calls or replied to our short messages by the time we went to the press.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will announce the by-election date in the coming days.
