The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has dispatched certificates for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates nationwide.
In a statement posted on X, KNEC announced the certificates had been delivered to Sub-County Director of Education offices for collection.
“Candidates are advised to liaise with the schools where they sat the examinations to collect the certificates,” KNEC stated.

The council also warned that withholding certificates is illegal. “Any candidate whose certificate is withheld should report the matter to the Sub-County Director of Education,” it advised.
Separately, yesterday, the Ministry of Education reiterated that schools must not detain student certificates for any reason.
“Holding a student’s certificate because of unpaid school fees, lost books, or property damage is illegal,” said Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba.
The Ministry revealed that, in some cases, certificates had been withheld for over a decade.
