The transfer of Julius Kemei from Sabatia Forest Primary School in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County has triggered uproar from parents in the school.
The parents have sharply faulted the move, terming it unacceptable, unfortunate and ill-advised.
Led by Mary Kemboi, they described Kemei as a visionary leader, noting that 12 candidates joined national schools last year.
“We brought our children to school only to realise that our head teacher Kemei has been transferred. This is wrong and unfortunate and as parents we can’t allow this,” he noted.
Speaking at the school, she noted that they were not consulted and only learnt of the transfer today in the morning.
Kemboi noted that parents have resolved to take their children to other schools, adding that politics remain a major threat to learning activities in the region.
“We as parents in this school were not informed about this decision. Because of this, we have decided that we are not going to bring our children here. You can’t mess with our children’s education and expect us to bring our children,” added Kemboi.
Fancy Sogomo on her part wants the decision rescinded, stating that parents, being the major stakeholders, must be consulted in any decision relating to the school.
“We are asking the Teachers Service Commission to revoke this transfer failure to which it will not be business as usual. This school belongs to us and we won’t allow anybody else rather than Kemei to come here. Although Kemei is not feeling well now, we will wait for him until he is well,” maintained Sogomo.
A visit to the school established that learners had not reported with offices remaining closed, even as our attempts to get a response from the Sub County TSC Director remained futile.
