Nyanza region is the winner of the just concluded Kenya National Science and Engineering Fair which was held in Moi Girls High school, Nairobi.
The region was ranked position one after accumulating 1106 points in all its presented projects.
It performed well in Applied Technology, attaining 114 points. Others were Agriculture 68, Bio and Biotech 87, Chemistry 90, Computer Science 87, Energy and Transport 93, Engineering 74, Environment 99, Food Technology 92, Mathematical Science 70, Physics 94, Behavioural Science 79, and Robotics 59.
Central region followed at position two with 1046 points, topping in the Agriculture category with 111 points and in Computer Science with 113 points. At position three was Nairobi region with 1041 points followed by Western region at position four with1030 points.
Rift Valley closed the top five regions with 1016 points, Eastern region settled at position six with 816, Coast at position seven with 653 points and finally at position eight was North Eastern with 215 points.
In the schools category, Kabianga Boys High School emerged position one countrywide. They will represent the country in Los Angeles, USA for international competitions.
The Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) is an annual extravaganza that celebrates the brilliance of young minds in the world of science, technology and engineering. It held every year according to the schools’ co-curricular activities calendar released by the Ministry of Education.
