Kipsigis Girls receive KSh5 million from Government for infrastructure upgrade

The Cabinet Secretary for Labour Florence Bore has promised to assist the Kipsigis Girls High School complete some of the major infrastructure projects being undertaken.

She said the school needed support from all education stakeholders to enable school create more space to accommodate more girls.

“As an alumnus of this great school, I am proud to be associated with the stellar performance posted by our candidates of 2023, ‘the Indomitable Queens’, who managed a good mean score,” she said.

The school performed extremely well last year posting a mean grade of 9.2843 with a 95 per cent transition to university. This achievement saw it lead in the county, which is a no mean feat.

She was the chief guest during the Thanksgiving Day at the school.

She was accompanied by the Board of Management (BoM) Chairman Nixon Sigei, the Chief Principal Christine Chumba and PTA Chair Charles Kirui.

The function was also graced by the County Director of Education Julius Ngoneshi.

The CS handed over a cheque of KSh5 million from the Government which she said will go towards the completion of the infrastructural projects.

She asked the form four class ‘Blessed Eagles’ to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors by posting better results. They target a 10.5 mean grade.

The CS promised the BoM support from the Government in the completion of the several infrastructure projects being undertaken.

Chief Principal Chumba said the results came from a combination of effort from teachers, the BoM, subordinate staff and student body.

The school has a population of 1800 including those students who are visually impaired and it also targets to empower the girl child for the betterment of the community.

Chumba said they have made all the strides academically and want to emerge among the top education giants in the country.

The BoM chair Sigei has also said his team was working round the clock to alleviate shortage of infrastructural facilities at the school.

He added his team has completed Phase One of dormitory which can accommodate 400 students and they were working on a new tuition block as well as the continuous beautification of the school compound.

“To alleviate infrastructure shortage which has been one of the greatest challenges, we have embarked on putting up new classrooms. The school needs a new administration block, resource centre and more dormitories. We have to create space so as to accommodate more of our girls,” he added.

Ngoneshi promised support for the school from the Ministry of Education and urged the management to put more effort in their work so as to maintain their lead in the County and beyond.
