Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu has called upon Treasury to hasten the release of NGCDF money so that students can get bursary in time.

Speaking yesterday at Mukuyuni during the issuance of Ksh30 million bursary to university and college students who had applied over the December holiday, Kimilu noted that many learners in high school have been sent home for school fees and many of them are needy.

He noted that every student who applied for bursary will get some amount, encouraging college and university students to always apply for the bursary personally instead of letting their parents to do it on their behalf.

“I will only allow parents to apply for bursary for their secondary school children. The rest should come and do it themselves. It is not all about applying; I like meeting these students, listen to their problems, get them mentors in different aspects of life and also offer guidance and counselling,” Kimilu said.

The legislator said that secondary school students are getting their bursaries soon.
