Day scholars to pay only Ksh1000 fees next year, MP says

Tinderet MP Julius Melly. He has said all day students will pay only Ksh1000 per term from next year.

Tinderet MP Julius Melly has said that all day scholars in his constituency will pay only Ksh1,000 per term as fees starting next year, saying no student should miss education due to lack of fees.

“I have invested a lot in education and starting next year, all day school students will only pay Ksh1,000 per term. No students should be sent home or miss education due to fees,” added the National Assembly Education Committee chairperson.

Melly also lauded the ongoing reforms in the education sector, assuring that the committee fully supports them.

He said noted the constituency will get additional Elimu Scholarship funds since it is listed as a hardship area.

“This area has been classified as a hardship area and this year we got a bigger amount of Elimu scholarship funds as compared to other areas in this county. I hereby urge parents and guardians to apply for the funds,” he said.

He asked parents and guardians to apply for other scholarships in the constituency in addition, which he said is open to orphans who attained 280 marks and above.

He listed the categories to be given priority, saying the government has allocated more funds to institutions of higher education this year compared to the past.
