Amukura East MCA Leonard Onyondo has donated Ksh. 10, 000 for the next year’s form one fees of a KCPE candidate with 253 marks from Musokoto DEB Primary in Busia County.

Speaking during the launch of Onyondo’s cup, the candidate, Collins Adenya garnered admiration from the MCA for his skills as center referee.

It was during a special match between Akobwait and Kakemer FC where Adenya showcased remarkable whistle-handling expertise and a profound understanding of the game’s rules.

He expressed his interest in becoming a referee since observing national referees during matches at Akowait and Kwangamor Primary school grounds in Standard Four.

The young referee has already overseen matches in the ongoing Liguru Cup at Kwangamor Primary and aspires to attain national and international recognition.

He appealed for support from relevant authorities to receive training while pursuing secondary education.

Onyondo, cup sponsor featuring teams from nine sub-locations, donated Ksh 10,000 for Adenya’s form one fees next year.

He commits to supporting Adenya’s academic and referee journey, aiming to nurture another local talent akin to Maxim Itur, a former FIFA referee from the area.

Having watched the special match won 2-0 by Kakemer, Onyondo recognizes Adenya’s potential.

The MCA notes Adenya’s adept handling of the game, showcasing knowledge and discretion in decision-making, crucial for a referee.

Douglas Oduor, credited with nurturing Adenya’s talent, emphasizes that government assistance is vital to propel such talents to greater heights.

Akobwait Primary School teacher Sylvia Oliwa advocates for collaborative efforts to help Adenya pursue his dreams.

Joseph Ouma highlights Adenya’s commitment, expressing the community’s desire for him to make history as the first referee from Akobwait sub-location.
