Parents in Kitui have been issued with a stern warning after evicting a school head and withdrawing their learners over corruption claims at the institution.
Mutomo Deputy County Commissioner Onesmus Ireri Muriuki has advised parents to follow the right channels when addressing their grievances against teachers instead of creating havoc and disrupting learning.
He noted that such grievances can be amicably addressed by the schools’ boards of management, sub county director of education and even his office.
“It’s unfortunate that instead of supporting schools, some parents opt to undermine the education system,” he noted, further warning parents that those found causing havoc in schools will be punished.
His warning follows a recent incident at Nzambani Primary School in Kitui East where parents closed the school and withdrew their children following allegation that the head teacher had misappropriated school funds.
The administrator also warned school heads against embezzling school funds, stating that they would be held accountable by the law.
