Govt to massively recruit youth to work in Europe, Saudi Arabia

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has revealed that there will be a massive recruitment of qualified youth to work in foreign countries.

He said the opportunities have been identified in Europe, America and Saudi Arabia.

“We have already signed employment and labour pacts with these countries,” he assured, urging university and TVET graduates to turn up for the nationwide recruitment, which will start today, October 9, 2023.

However, he did not divulge the details of the exercise.

He was speaking at Nyaribari Masaba Constituency where he helped to raise more than 5 million shillings for infrastructure development at Moi Kisii Primary School.

Flanked by his labour counterpart Moses Kuria and MPs Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Japheth Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North) and Daniel Manduku (Nyaribari Masaba), he defended the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the new funding model for higher education, saying the latter is 100 per cent free.

“Students from very needy homes will get 100 per cent support from the government while those from average homes will top up the funds with only 7 per cent of the total fees,” he said.
