Detectives in Kilifi have discovered the decomposing body of a missing Pwani University lecturer whose identity has not been revealed.
According to Kilifi North sub-county police Commander Kenneth Maina, the deceased’s body was located inside his rental house in Mtaani in Kilifi Township.
“He had not been seen for the past three days and neighbors got concerned after a bad smell and flies were spotted from his house.
They raised alarm with the police and necessary actions were taken,” said the police boss.
He added that investigations have begun and detectives are working closely with the university to reach his family and inform them of the sad news.
It has been established that the lecturer was teaching French and English at Pwani University and was living alone at the time of his death.
Neighbors described the deceased as a man of few words who kept to himself.
“He barely interacted with his neighbors. He was a quiet man who kept to himself,” Fatma Hassan said.
His body has been taken to the Kilifi sub-county hospital, where a postmortem examination will be performed to determine the cause of death.
