A 30-acre piece of land has been set aside for the construction of a Technical and Vocational College (TVC) which will have tailored courses for People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in Soin-Sigowet, Kericho.

Kericho County Governor Dr. Erick Mutai said the TVC will be launched in collaboration with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) to offer courses specifically for students with special needs together with general courses.

TVETA Director General Dr. Kipkurui Lang’at observed that the constituency was the only one without a TVET college in the county and will be fortunate to host the special institution.

On the same note, plans are at an advanced stage to elevate Bureti TVC to a National Polytechnic. This was revealed by the governor who praised the role played by technical institutions in upgrading the standards of education.

Dr. Lang’at also disclosed plans for the construction of an institution of higher learning within Kericho town in an effort to spur business growth.

The Soin-Sigowet project will be the sixth in the county; other colleges already in place include Kipsinende TVC in Kipkelion West, Kimasian TVC in Kipkelion West, Belgut TVC in Belgut, Kericho Township TVC in Ainamoi and Bureti Technical in Bureti constituency.
