Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament, Dr. Daniel Manduku, has set aside Ksh 1 million as a motivation kitty for teachers.
He said the funds will be distributed among teachers whose subjects will excel in both KCPE and KCSE examinations.
“This will be an annual activity that will be conducted openly now that I have set the ball rolling and in your courts,” he said.
The MP was addressing both secondary and primary school teachers at Ichuni Girls High School on Thursday in his constituency.
He praised teachers from Kisii County for steering their schools towards impressive examination results last year and also asked them to continue with the same spirit.
Speaking in biblical juxtaposition when Paul called his care taker a brethren in prison, Manduku asked teachers if they could be his brethren’s by mentoring their learners well to excel in their examinations.
Answering questions from principals about the delay on the disbursement of NG-CDF education funds to the students, he exonerated his office from blame.
Instead he blamed his opponents who took him to court over alleged rigging of votes to get to parliament position.
“We have been in and out of court since we were elected about six months ago. I appeal to the residents to be patient with us on the delay of disbursing the funds,” he said.
The legislator asked teachers to the patient with me their slow learners by creating remedial classes them to at bar with their quick learning colleagues.
He asked teachers to love their children in the way they are and struggle to guide to them towards success because they are the future leaders of this country.
